How LOVE9F Points work

LOVE9F Points are the points the 9Chain Forum gives for taking part in the community. They record contribution. They are not an asset, a token or money, they cannot be transferred, and they do not convert into anything by themselves. Any future use of them has to be proposed and voted on by the community.

Every member’s figure is shown on their profile and next to their name on posts. Anyone can check it: everything it is made of is public on the forum.

The formula

LOVE9F Points = activity + welcome steps + programmes

1. Activity

Points for what you do on the forum, counted every day. These are the same points as the leaderboard, which ranks members by activity only.

Action LOVE9F Points
A topic you create 5,000
A reply you write 2,000
A like you receive 1,000
A reaction you receive (posts or chat) 1,000
Your answer to someone else’s question is marked as the Solution 20,000
Someone joins with your invite 10,000
A flag you raise is accepted by staff 10,000
A day you visit 1,000
Every 100 posts you read in a day 1,000
Every hour you spend reading in a day 1,000

Likes and reactions you give do not earn points. Posts in private messages and in the Market category do not count, and nor do posts that are deleted or hidden.

2. Welcome steps: up to 1,000,000

Six steps that help you find your way around. Each one is shown publicly on the forum, so anyone can see which steps a member has done.

Step How it is shown LOVE9F Points
Join the forum your account 100,000
Take the First steps tour of the forum badge First steps 100,000
Add a photo and a few words about yourself badge Autobiographer 100,000
Sign in with 9Chain.com once your LOVE9 Points from 9Chain.com appear on your profile 200,000
Reach trust level 1 by reading and exploring badge Basic User 300,000
Get a like on one of your posts badge Welcome 200,000
Total 1,000,000

Each step counts as soon as it is done. Your profile and the homepage show the steps you still have to do.

How to do the tour step. The First steps tour shows you the forum’s pages, features and rules in about two minutes. It starts by itself on your first visit to the homepage, and you can start it again from the welcome card on the homepage or from the checklist on your profile. Finishing it gives you the First steps badge. (Prefer a chat tutorial? discobot still offers one in your messages; it is optional and does not count as a step.)

3. Programmes

Recognition for contributions the team or the community has confirmed. Staff grant a badge with a link to the post that shows the contribution, and each grant adds its points.

Fair play

  • One person, one account. If your forum account and your 9Chain.com account use the same email, they are one account.
  • Likes are for posts you find useful. Do not ask for likes, trade likes, or like posts from a second account. Requests for likes are removed, and accounts that do this can get the badge LOVE9F Points on hold.
  • Accounts created to collect welcome points, spam, or other abuse get the badge LOVE9F Points on hold. While it is there, welcome and programme points count as 0; activity points stay. If you think this is a mistake, use the appeals process in the community guidelines.
  • Staff accounts take part with activity points only.
  • Points from 9Chain.com (LOVE9 Points earned) are shown next to LOVE9F Points but are a separate figure. The two are never added together.
