In one minute
- Three places on this forum let you vote: Ideas, Airdrop and Proposals.
- Not sure which one to use? Start in Ideas.
- A vote shows what the community supports. It is not a final decision.
Which one do I use?
| You want to… | Go to |
|---|---|
| suggest something new, or see what others think of a rough idea | Ideas |
| say how a 9Chain airdrop should work | Airdrop |
| change a rule we all share on this forum | Governance → Proposals |
The three places, one by one
1. Ideas: any idea, at an early stage
- What it is for: ideas for 9Chain, for 9Chain.com or for this forum. It does not need to be complete.
- Examples: “A page that compares A1 and C1 in plain words” · “A monthly community call” · “A new section for a language”.
- Who can start a topic: every member.
- Your vote means: “I would like to see this used.”
2. Airdrop: only about the airdrop
- What it is for: how a 9Chain airdrop should work. Who is eligible, how contributions are measured, how abuse is prevented.
- Example: “A proposal for which contributions count, and how each one is checked”.
- Who can start a topic: members at trust level 1 and above. You reach it automatically after reading and taking part for a short while. Everyone can reply and vote.
- Your vote means: “I support this design.”
- Read first: the rules pinned at the top of the Airdrop category. No official airdrop programme has been announced.
3. Proposals: a formal change to shared rules
- What it is for: changing what we all share on this forum: the guidelines, and how the community decides things.
- Examples: “Change one line of the guidelines” · “Add a rule about posts written by AI”.
- Who can start a topic: every member.
- Your vote means: “I support this change.”
How to post, step by step
- Search first. Someone may have posted the same thing. If so, vote for it and add your view in a reply.
- Open the category you chose and press Create.
- Write a clear title that says what you propose. “Add a weekly testnet report” is better than “My idea”.
- In Ideas and Airdrop, an outline appears in the editor. Fill in each heading.
- One idea per topic. Two ideas are two topics, so people can vote on each.
- Press Create Topic. Some posts are held for review and appear after a moderator has checked them.
How to vote, step by step
- Open the topic.
- Press the vote button next to the title.
- Changed your mind? Press it again to take your vote back, and use it somewhere else.
How many votes you have depends on your trust level:
| Trust level | 0 (new) | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Votes | 2 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 |
Votes are public: other members can see who voted for a topic.
What happens after the vote
- A vote shows what the community supports. It helps decide what gets worked on and what is put forward.
- It is not an on-chain decision, and it does not bind the 9Chain project. On-chain governance is not open yet (docs.9chain.org → Taking part, and the doors still owed).
- A decision counts only when it is announced on the official channels.
- An idea that gathers support can be rewritten as a formal proposal, or as an airdrop proposal if that is what it is about.
Common questions
I cannot start a topic in Airdrop. You need trust level 1. Until then you can reply and vote there, and post your idea in Ideas.
I have no votes left. Take one back from a topic you voted for, or wait until your trust level rises.
My post does not appear. It may be waiting for review. This happens to posts with words often used in scams, such as “claim your airdrop” or “connect wallet”. A moderator will check it.
Someone asks me to pay or to connect a wallet so that I can vote. That is a scam. Voting here is free and needs nothing but your forum account. Nobody from 9Chain messages you first.
